In situations of diplopia, the search for the prismatic value that compensates the ocular deviation in the gazing position considered, must be found reducing the dissociation between the two eyes to a minimum - the orange filter has been realised for this purpose as it is less dissociating than the classical red filter used to identify the maximum deviation and which has high chromatic dissociation. Using an orange filter therefore helps the clinician to suitably quantify the value to be prescribed to restore single binocular vision; as it is known, the higher the degree of dissociation between the two eyes, the wider the angle of deviation detected will be.
